The perfect festive gift or keepsake for those celebrating an Australian Christmas, this delightful stamp and coin cover features native flora and fauna.
Pictured on this limited Australia Post collectable, Banksia is an iconic Australian native plant with cylindrical flower heads that resemble the shape of a candle – a motif strongly associated with Christmas.
Issued as Australian legal tender, the uncirculated aluminium bronze coin is housed in a beautifully designed card with a circular window revealing the coin’s reverse and obverse designs.
DESIGN
The stamp and coin cover features an illustrated envelope featuring Banksia ‘candles’ amid fir tree branches, decorative baubles and gift-wrapped boxes to evoke the sense of an Australian Christmas. It includes two Australian 65-cent stamps portraying Christmas motifs and a special postal stamp marked MERRYLANDS NSW 2160.
The stamp and coin cover incorporates an Australian coin featuring the inscription MERRY CHRISTMAS. It is surrounded by a colourful garland of native flowers in a design that also includes The Perth Mint’s official ‘P’ mintmark.
The Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the monetary denomination, and the 2020 year-date are on the coin’s obverse
OFFICIAL AUSTRALIA POST STAMP
Affixed to the envelope are two official Australia Post 65c stamps. The stamps are postmarked for the first day of issue and the envelope includes Australia Post’s Seal of Authenticity.
