Description
Each coin is housed in a stitched leatherette case, and is stored in a spectacular outer box depicting a coloured image of Janszoon's map within a decorative cartouche lid. The design also features an image of the Duyfken under sail.
Under the command of Willem Janszoon, the Dutch ship Duyfken made landfall on the western shore of Cape York in 1606. The ships crew chartered 320 Kilometres of the coast around the modern town of Weipa.Marking this special event and celebrating this historic anniversary of 400 years the Perth Mint is releasing a special commemorative silver proof coin. The coin depicts a coloured representation of Janszoon's original map of a section of Cape York.
