2012 50c Uncirculated Coin - The Queen's Diamond Jubilee
Description
Queen Elizabeth II, perhaps Australia's favourite royal personage, due in part to being the first reigning monarch to visit Australia in 1954, her endurance over the past 60 years and her grace in facing outbreaks of war, assassinations and who could forget annuls horribilis.
The Queen's ascension to the crown was celebrated with coins by the Royal Australian Mint for her Silver Jubilee in 1977, Golden Jubilee in 2003 and now after reigning for 60 years we mark her Diamond Jubilee.
This anniversary will be celebrated throughout the Commonwealth and there are already numerous custom made issues appearing from a range of private mints from all over the world. Start your collection with the authentic and official Australian coins made by a world class Royal Mint.
Like many of our most popular coins and enduring royal designs these jubilee coins are also designed by the official jeweller and goldsmith to Queen Elizabeth II, Stuart Devlin.
The designs are certainly celebratory, with blooms of fireworks encrusted with diamonds bursting behind the centrepiece of St Edward’s Crown, all for The Queen who graces the obverse.
