2013 50c Uncirculated Coin - 100 Years of Commonwealth Stamps
Description
Australia’s first national stamp issue had a troubled beginning. A decade after the federation of Australia’s six colonies, the Postmaster-General’s Department sought designs to grace the new nation’s first stamps, which would in time replace Australia’s colonial/state stamp issues.
After more than a year of submissions and political debate, the Kangaroo and Map postage stamps were finally released in 1913. In 2013, the Royal Australian Mint celebrates the Kangaroo and Map’s 100th anniversary with this commemorative 50c coin.
PRESENTATION
The coin is presented in a blister and housed in a printed presentation card.
