2019 1oz Silver Coin - 150th Anniversary Of The Periodic Table
Description
2019 1oz Silver Coin - 150th Anniversary Of The Periodic Table
This 1oz silver proof coin celebrates the 150th anniversary of the creation of the periodic table.
Russian chemist Dmitri Mendeleev, often referred to as the Father of the Periodic Table, is credited with formalising the arrangement of the chemical elements in 1869.
By grouping the known elements in order of increasing atomic weight he developed a principle which he called the Periodic Law. This led to the realisation that certain types of elements occurred regularly, confirming their resultant pattern, or periodicity.
Struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.99% pure silver, the design portrays a profile portrait of the renowned scientist. Coloured atomic symbols reflecting periodic table elements spell out the anniversary date of 150 years. Included in the design are the words ‘PERIODIC TABLE’ and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark. The coin’s obverse depicts the Ian Rank- Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2019 year-date, the coin’s weight and fineness, and the monetary denomination.
The coin is presented classic grey display case, within a themed shipper and accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
